Stir-Fried Garlicky Kale with Toasted Sesame Seeds

Kale, deemed to be one of the healthiest vegetables is yet to be welcomed with open arms in our household. I have tried a few times and failed. I have tried to entice them with the fun kale chips and I have tried to hide it in pesto. So far, no luck. Hi, I am Sarani and I am back with a healthy side of Stir Fried Garlicky Kale which might just become a staple at our family meals. Fingers crossed!

How to make Stir-Fried Garlicky Kale with Toasted Sesame Seeds

First step to make this Stir-Fried Garlicky Kale with Toasted Sesame Seeds is to wash the bunch of kale very well. Roll the Kale leaves up into a bunch and chop with a sharp knife. Then transfer the chopped kale to a colander while you toast the sesame seeds.

While the chopped kale is hanging out in the colander, take the sesame seeds in a small skillet and toast them on medium heat for 3-5 minutes till lightly browned. Keep tossing as you toast the seeds. Toasting the sesame seeds will add an extra layer of flavor.

Now heat the sesame oil in an skillet on medium high heat and fry the garlic pieces till fragrant. Now add the chopped Kale leaves (+ stems) and cook till the leaves start wilting. Next add the soy sauce and season with salt, freshly cracked black pepper and red chili flakes. Toss to combine everything.

Transfer the Kale leaves to a bowl and lastly, sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds on it. Serve warm.

I am planning to serve the Stir-Fried Garlicky Kale with Toasted Sesame Seeds with a side of mashed sweet potatoes and baked tilapia.

Hope the family likes it!

A Simple and Delicious Summer Dinner Recipe

Can you tell that I’m on a total fresh veggie and yummy chicken kick lately?!  Dinner time has become such a breeze by having the Zaycon chicken in my freezer…if you missed it, I shared a video about Zaycon chicken with last week’s chicken recipe….definitely go check it out!

Basically, I’m all stocked up on fresh chicken, ground beef, and pork loin thanks to Zaycon…I have it all out in the freezer ready to go for dinner.  Then I just make a trip over to our local farmer’s market and stock up on fresh veggies for the week.  Each day I just pull a meat out of the freezer and decide what veggies sound good for dinner that night.  And let me just say…I don’t know if it’s because I’m inspired by this simple eating or because I’ve been rocking it in the food pairings but every meal lately has been a hit! Alright, you guys know how much I love my Zaycon chicken…I always have it in the freezer ready for a super simple dinner.  If you haven’t tried Zaycon you can watch the video below for a quick overview…I refuse to buy chicken at the grocery store anymore because I love this chicken so much….and no, I’m not getting paid to say that! 😉

Obviously, now that I have 40 pounds of chicken to go through I’m on a chicken recipe binge right now.  My favorite thing to do on Saturdays is go to our local farmer’s market with my family.  The kids have a blast seeing all the different booths with delicious treats to try, there’s all sorts of vendors with homemade goods, and occasionally we get to see some farm animals.  The whole town shows up to the farmer’s market every Saturday morning….I think this is going to be the #1 thing I miss when we move this summer.  I mean, it’s seriously like stepping into an ABC Family movie…you know, those cutsie movies where the whole town knows everyone by name….those places really do exist!!  Who knew?!
