How to fold t-shirts for Maximum Space

So, first off, the little man is 1000 times better today! Woohoo!  (If you missed all the comotion you can read about it here.)  He was having a blast torturing chasing playing with the kitty, “helping” mommy unload boxes and “helping” mommy unfold the neatly folded laundry I’ve been working on all day…. I mean seriously, folded laundry that hasn’t been dragged across the floor is sooooooo over-rated!

Also, you are going to have to excuse my photos—yeah, they’re taken with my phone. The real camera seems to be MIA right now… I’m hoping it’s in one of the boxes or else I’m going to have to beg for a new one.

Anyway- I swear, my husband is worse than a woman when it comes to clothes!  I mean, I have a lot of clothes- but, he puts me to shame!  He has TONS of t-shirts, polos, dress shirts (yeah, ok, he does need those now for the job)…. but really, what man needs 65 t-shirts?  Yeah, that’s right- 65!  And that’s just the t-shirts that are currently in his dresser… it doesn’t include the few that are in the wash, the ones he has with him (in his suitcase—he’s been out of town for 5 days), and any strays I may find in future boxes.  Oh, and this is AFTER he purged a whole bunch before the move!

Needless to say, I needed to find a way to get them all in the drawers now that we’re down to just 2 tall chests in the bedroom and we’re sharing a closet half the size of our old one.  Luckily, my 12 years in retail taught me a thing or two about folding.

This is the BEST way I have found to fold t-shirts to allow me to fit the most in a drawer.  I took a drawer that was only holding 12 t-shirts to now holding 27 t-shirts.

Not bad at all!  And the BEST part is that he can see ALL of the t-shirts without pulling any out!  Awhile back I pinned a post on folding t-shirts from here, but the shirts wouldn’t fit in the drawer standing up- so I folded them like I used to when I was working retail and now they fit perfectly standing up.

Much, much, much better don’t ya think???

So, here’s how to fold the t-shirts to allow maximum fit:

My son is the tee shirt champion, and not good at all at keeping them looking like they have not lived in a wad in a small bag somewhere. We'll just have to give this a try!Janet

What a great idea... I just moved and have limited storage space for awhile, so this will come in handy! Thanks for sharing, and Go Gators!!! :)

I have been a folding idiot all of my life. EVERYTHING that comes out of the laundry is wrinkled and must be ironed prior to wearing unless I get it to a hanger immediately. You folders are amazing :)
