Shabby Chic Wedding Decor #DavidTuteraDIY

I love teal this season!  I love shabby chic this season! I love rustic this season! I LOVE bling this season!  I really just LOVE it all and I LOVE that I got the chance to play around and come up with this gorgeous Shabby Chic Wedding ensemble.

The key to a shabby chic wedding is to mix the rough unfinished elements with the beauty of flowers, softness of satin, and sparkle of diamonds!

The new David Tutera Bridal collection helps you achieve this look very simply!

The David Tutera bridal collection includes: Affordable fashion accessories, unique décor elements, floral accents and other embellishments, all designed to help you tell your own special love story. Adding your own unique touch is a lot easier than you think! It’s all about turning ordinary wedding elements into something special.

I had the pleasure of reviewing the new David Tutera line and let me say…the hard part was deciding where to start and what to do!  There were so many beautiful items and the ideas just came flowing through!

Oh, and I’m not using any of this in a wedding (since I’m about 3 years too late for my own)—but I am using them in my house—

I think these pieces will look gorgeous in the dining room!  So, even if you’re not getting married you can still use the David Tutera Bridal line for your home décor and craft projects!

First, I started off with a few glass pieces from the Dollar Tree—yes, each of these were only $1…I’m thrifty like that!

Next I wanted to bring in the shabby element, something a bit rustic, so I chose some burlap.  I just measured and cut a strip for each glass element.  Now, the key to burlap is NOT to overthink it—it will not be in a straight line, it will not be a clean cut, it WILL be uneven—that’s where the shabby comes in—so just go with the flow. Now, as you can see in the picture above, after I made the cut I pulled out a couple of threads of burlap along the end so I could produce that frayed edge look.
Then I just secured it with hot glue on the back and added some satin ribbon. Then embellished with a decorative David Tutera button.

The small square vase was the perfect size for holding the David Tutera bubbles. I LOVE that even the bubbles have a little bling!

The next piece I did was the larger square vase that I intended as a centerpiece.  The unique thing about this piece is that it’s multi-functional.  The flower is actually the David Tutera hair comb—so, this is perfect for when the bride and bridesmaids head to the reception after the wedding. They can let their hair down and let their hairpiece be part of the décor!

The comb slides in perfectly behind the ribbon!  Then I just added the David Tutera lighted branches (these are battery powered so there’s no cords running off the table- and there’s a simple on/off switch), added the table number sign, and filled it up with some David Tutera diamond filler.

The last piece is another multi-function piece—it is a simple vase that will hold the bride and bridesmaids bouquets during the reception.  I made it exactly as I did the bubble holder and just added some diamond filler.  One thing that I really liked is the strand of lights that can be added to the bouquets- I think this would be beautiful for an evening wedding!

The lights are so small you don’t see the individual lights- it just creates a gorgeous glow from the flowers.  And it’s battery operated as well with an easy on/off switch- I’m currently using this on my nightstand.

And there you have it- some beautiful Shabby Chic wedding decorations—Simple, Elegant, DIY!
