When I was a little girl I remember my grandmother having silhouettes of my mom and uncle hanging above her bed. I always thought these were so sweet. Well I decided to make one of my son... The only problem is:
how do you get a 4 month old to sit still long enough to trace his silhouette? You don't! Keep reading to find out how I made this! I started off with a wood plaque that I got from Michaels for $1. I painted it black and then distressed it with some sand paper.... giving it a nice antique look. Next, I took a picture of my sleeping baby boy and uploaded it to my laptop. (Sneaky, Sneaky)
I remember seeing where someone traced a picture of their baby but I forgot to pin it so now I can't reference it. BOO! :( I then traced his silhouette onto a piece of paper- straight off the computer screen! It's nice because it works sort of like a light box and makes seeing the edges super easy! Then I just went back over it with a bold black marker so I could see it through my scrapbook paper. For some reason I didn't take a pic of the next step....
But I just traced the silhouette onto my scrapbook paper and then took an exacto knife to cut the image out. Next, just like I did with my Modge Podge Letters, I attached the scrapbook paper cutout with Modge Podge. I covered the whole plaque with Modge Podge to protect the surface. (note: make sure you wipe all the excess paint off from where you sanded the plaque or else you'll wind up with paint smeared onto the scrapbook paper.) Luckily, the excess black paint smeared on the paper just added to the antique look I was going for. Finally, add some ribbon to hang!

The only problem is:
