What is a Habitat for Humanity Restore?

What is a Habitat for Humanity Restore?

It’s the ULTIMATE toy store for DIYers and Crafters!!!

crafter+paradise What is a Habitat for Humanity Restore? I’m finding all sorts of new goodies living up here in North Carolina!  I have never experienced a Habitat for Humanity Restore before and now I NEVER want to go back to a place that doesn’t have them.  They have just about EVERYTHING a DIY girl could dream about!

Okay, have you ever passed a sign like this?

Next time you better TURN AROUND and go back IMMEDIATELY!

You will be sooooo happy that you did!

Okay, I keep gushing but this is how AWESOME this place is…..
When you walk in it seems like a typical thrift store at first.  Until you see all the “EXTRAS”
they have towards the back.  It was like walking into Lowe’s or Home Depot’s Super Clearance Center (if those exists…. but this place does and that’s what counts).  There were rows and rows of all sorts of hardware store finds.

There were tiles (for as little as .25 each).

There were appliances. (how about an over the range microwave for $25?!)
There were fixtures galore!

(Yeah- this chandelier was $30….if only we didn’t live in an apartment!)
They had all sorts of tools. And paint brushes. And drill bits. And drawer knobs. And sealant. And paint. Oh, you get my drift.  All for a RIDICULOUSLY LOW PRICE!  My husband about fell over when he saw a $30 drill bit set for $4!

Oh, and you know all those adorable shutter projects you see on Pinterest? Where, Oh Where do they get those shutters?

Yep, at the Habitat for Humanity Restore.

And those super cute door projects? Yep, they come from the Habitat for Humanity Restore too—as low as $5 a door!  If only I had the room to do all these projects dancing in my head!  Once we get a house- watch out!

In addition to all these awesome deals they also have new cabinets that you can buy at a fraction of the price. They have granite counter tops.  There’s even a section outside that had sinks, toilets, grills, etc.

And…. that’s not all!  They also have the regular thrift store finds too!  There’s furniture, holiday décor, knick knacks, and books.

It is a glorious place.  So, if you see this sign:

We had a ReStore in our town but it was poorly run. The folks that operated it did not organize it very well and they put high prices on everything. We went there to find an inexpensive gas stove. They only had used low-end models in poor condition for which they were charging new prices! The place looked nothing like the beautifully organized store near you. There is another one about 35 miles away, but it is no better. The ReStore in our town ended up closing.

Melissa, I came across the picture at the top of this post on Pinterest and so was super excited to find out it is of the Mooresville ReStore! I work for Our Towns Habitat ReStores and just wanted to say thank you for the great comments about our ReStore and for the support. I am so thrilled that it is your "paradise!"

The best part is that all the funds raised from the ReStores goes toward serving families in our community so your purchases (and donations!) always make a huge difference in our local community. Thank you so much!
