This has been one chaotic weekend!
And this week is shaping up to be just as busy!!
I’ve had these frames for awhile and just haven’t done anything with them yet (I bought 3 of them on clearance at Kohls… all identical).
My thoughts were always to cover them in canvas and do some type of 3-D art since there’s about an inch between the glass and the back.
I took the back off and measured my canvas to fit (leaving about 1/2 around all edges so I can wrap it around to the back).
I used my hot glue gun (yep, I’m one of those girls that if it comes in pink then that’s the one I’m getting!) to secure the canvas to the back.
Now for my buttons!
Since Easter is fast approaching I decided I needed some Easter decor around here so I arranged the buttons in an egg shape and hot glued them to my canvas. Like how I added the cross to the center? He is the reason for the season!
I love the Shabby Chic look right now with the distressed white so I painted the frame white.
The inside cornices were harder to paint because they couldn’t be removed without breaking them and the paint brush wouldn’t fit between the cornice and the glass. I slid a piece of white paper between the cornice and the glass and just worked the paint brush as best as I could around all the corners…. luckily it worked! 🙂
Next I took a piece of steel wool and roughed it up some. The gold from the frame shows through really beautifully- very chic!
Finally, I hot glued the back to the frame and…..
Ta Da!!!!
What do you think?
Not bad for a last minute project?
Are you ready for Easter?
