👟 Comfort First: Theme Park Essentials
Before we dive into the themed outfits, let’s talk basics. You’ll be doing a lot of walking and standing, so comfort is key:
Supportive sneakers or cushioned sandals
As much as I love wearing flip flops during the summer, unfortunately they’re not the right choice for running around theme parks. For starters, some rides won’t let you on with flip flops because they could fall off during the ride. Secondly, even my most comfortable Birkenstocks flip flops just don’t offer enough cushioning for the multiple miles I walk in a theme park day.
I have discovered that investing in a GOOD pair of tennis shoes like these are worth their weight in gold at the end of the day! As I’ve gotten older, I’ve discovered the importance of arch support and quality cushioning!
If you must go the sandal route then I highly recommend one of these:

Lightweight, breathable fabrics (moisture-wicking is a bonus!)
Believe it or not, I love a good casual dress for the theme parks! The flowiness keeps the air circulating around my body, and it always looks cute in pictures. I’ve found that pairing a good moisture wicking dress like this one with a pair of biker shorts like these (I like these because they have pockets big enough for my phone), I stay cooler than wearing a tshirt (or tank top) and shorts.
My husband always wears these compression shirts under his graphic t-shirts. I always thought doubling up on shirts in the Florida heat would be unbearable. But, compression shirts actually work as moisture wicking shirts when you’re sweating, they rapidly cool you when you enter the air conditioned spaces.
Crossbody, backpack, or belt bag to keep your hands free
Depending on how much stuff you want to take with you will determine the type of bag you’ll carry. My husband ALWAYS takes his backpack because we wind up needing the space for everything. I typically take a crossbody for things I want to easily access like lip balm, my water bottle, water flavor packets, my wallet, etc.
We typically don’t let the kids bring a bag because we wind up lugging it around all day anyway. The only exception to this rule is this wand carrier bag for my daughter to keep her Harry Potter interactive wand readily available.
