Have you ever had one of those days where you just knew you shouldn’t have gotten out of bed because EVERYTHING you did didn’t work out right?
Well, I’ve had one of those days EVERYDAY this WEEK!!! I swear… something is going on because EVERY SINGLE project I have tried this week has been a FAIL! I was hoping to get some stuff made and done to share with you guys but instead I get to share what happens in REAL life. Yep, no perfect-pretty-clean- unbelievably fabulousness here… nope, I’m sharing with you what happens in my real life- clutzy, air headed, project fail REAL.
I’m not sharing this for pity or to vent…. I’m sharing because I believe we, as women-bloggers-mothers-do it all heros- need to realize that it’s okay to fail. Everyone fails! Everyone battles messes, mistakes, air-head moments. I know, you’re really wondering about the air-head moment because I’ve mentioned it several times thus far. Wait for it– you’ll be happy you did! 🙂
So, on Monday I decided to try drying strawberries in the oven- a recipe that I pinned from here— look at how yummy they look!
So, I bought a pint of strawberries, cut them up,
and put them in the over at 200 degrees for 2.5 hours. This is how they looked after 1.5 hours.
Well, dinner time was approaching and I wanted to bake some rolls for dinner- so I turned the oven on to 350 degrees. About 5 minutes later my kitchen was FULL of BLACK SMOKE and I then remembered the strawberries…. which looked like this:
Tuesday I decided no cooking tutorials!
I could still smell charred strawberries in my kitchen! So I decided to paint. I’ve had these glass Coke bottles saved away in the laundry room for about 2 months and I’ve had the vision of what I wanted to do with them.
You remember my stained glass vase? Well, I wanted to do something similar but with these bottles and then spray chalkboard paint over the label…. cute, right? I did a whole batch because my plan was to put them on Etsy when I was done.
Well, have you noticed that everywhere has switched from regular food coloring drops to this new gel stuff?
I figured it would basically work the same. The fact that it was WAY darker and WAY thicker didn’t even register in my mind. Well, this BOMBED! The glasses were left tacky/sticky and the color never turned out vibrant like the vase AND it left horrible paint brush strokes. There is NO WAY I can use/sell these!!!
Oh, and I almost gave my family food poisoning with dinner. I made a pasta dish with hamburger and didn’t realize that the hamburger had gone bad until my husband took a taste and realized the hamburger was RANCID!
On to Wednesday…
This is by far the funniest yet most air headed moment of all! After dinner (luckily this one wasn’t rancid) I was loading the dish washer and went to put the soap in the dispenser. We use the Cascade Action Pacs
that have the Dawn grease fighter added to it. Well, the Dawn part of the packet had burst open and oozed out in the bucket. Now, these dishes were REALLY dirty! They needed the extra help from Dawn! So, what to do, what to do??? Well, add Dawn of course!
So…. I added a BIG Ol’ squirt of liquid dish soap to the dishwasher.
Do you know what happens when you put dish soap in the dishwasher?

There you have it… my week of oops!
I’m going to bed now and hope tomorrow is MUCH better!
