The Top 10 Apple Recipes for Fall
These are Simple Recipes- Great for Cooking with Kids!
So if you’re a Serendipity and Spice regular then you know what a HUGE advocate I am for cooking with kids! Even at just 2 years old I try to find simple tasks for Little Man to help out with when I’m in the kitchen cooking. Cooking with kids can be so rewarding! Not only is cooking with your kids a great bonding experience but it’s also educational and huge self esteem builder.
When I’m cooking with Little Man we talk about where the food came from and how important it is to make good choices in the food we eat. We talk about how the food grows on the farm or in the trees. We talk about the colors of the food we see. We talk about how to clean the food and that only Mommy or Daddy cut the food. Then we talk about how yummy the food will be when we eat it and how it gives us energy. For me it’s all repetition but for Little Man it’s all about learning how the world and our bodies work.
By allowing Little Man to help me in the kitchen I’m starting off building important life skills that he will continue to develop and use in the future. I’m also instilling a sense of pride in him by being able to create and explore new delights. Plus, by letting him help in the kitchen I’m building his self esteem by subconsciously telling him that I trust him with more adult tasks. Kids gain sooooooo much by being in the kitchen with their parents….the gains are so worth the extra steps and little bit of extra time that it takes.
With it being prime apple picking season we like to go to a local farm and pick apples then bring them home and make something yummy! This way Little Man sees the full process from farm to table. So, I’ve put together my top 10 apple recipes for fall that are perfect for cooking with kids!
